Beloved in Christ Jesus,
I pray this finds you well. You are all daily in my prayers and on my mind. Paul’s words, penned to the church in Philippi while imprisoned, ring true in my heart these days while we are apart from one another physically. While not in prison, there is no denying that COVID – 19 has certainly disrupted our lives and routines for a season. But thanks be to God that He is still on His throne, and has afforded us creative means in this digital age to remain connected in creative ways!
While we practice social distancing, we will not practice spiritual distancing, nor fail to meet together as we always do! In addition to live streaming Sunday worship and midweek worship offerings through Facebook and YouTube, we are utilizing Zoom, a video conference software to have staff meetings, vestry meetings, ministry gatherings, Youth Group, Sunday School, Fr. Petta’s adult ed class, and Growth Group meetings. We will adapt, and ministry will march on! If you have had trouble, or need assistance in accessing any of these offerings, please contact the church office so that we can help you in taking advantage of them.
Mission outreach marches on as well. A recent highlight was our incredible Movie Night Outreach that brought roughly fifty together on the front lawn of the church. I connected with three families who had no affiliation with our church. Some came upon the invitation of those at the church and others found us from the neighborhood through other means of advertising! We pray it planted seeds in their hearts that will bear rich fruit.
Another mission highlight is that our early service continues to grow as new families find the church. Despite this disruption to our common life together, they remain connected to us. Lastly, we were able to send out our first mission support check last month, and continue to plan to support Camp Crucis this month as we are able. God is on the move at Saint Barnabas even in spite of these trying times!
I share these things for two reasons. First, to spur you on. You are making a difference through your support, prayers and participation. We will get through this, and your church will persevere and adapt. We also remain here for you, and for those who have yet to encounter Jesus in these difficult days!
Secondly, we need your help as ministry and mission continues. Would you support the church digitally for a season (as may be found on the homepage of the church website), or by mailing in a check as you give unto the Lord? May the Lord bless you and keep you and make His face to shine upon you until we see each other again!
