So many of our regular worshippers came up after church to share that they loved seeing the church full and having so many families and kids present. Countless others said that they wished it was like this every week. I’ve reflected upon that statement over the past several days, and it dawned on me that there is no reason why it cannot be like that every week. In fact, that is the very point of this series we are in. Reaching out to those disconnected from the Church, and helping them discover the community with the Lord and others that we have found at Saint Barnabas.
Sundays like this past one do require intentionality. The phone calls, emails, invitations and countless conversations are used by the Lord to stir hearts. This month we are preparing for another big Sunday, and Lord willing, a regular pattern like this past week as we approach March. But help is needed toward that end! And this week there are two opportunities to equip you.
The first is this Saturday from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm. It is an evangelism workshop day aimed at helping us not only learn, but ask questions, and join the conversation on a topic that is daunting for most of us. Then, on Sunday night from 6.00 - 7.30 pm we are blessed to have one of the world’s leading evangelists in our midst as Archbishop Ben Kwashi joins us for a pot luck dinner and forum. Both events are open to anyone you’d like to invite. I would urge you to make them a priority, as they will serve to equip, encourage, and enable us to further be formed in the likeness of Jesus.
The second opportunity comes in the form of postcards you will find in the entryways of the church. As we approach the March series, we have save the date postcards that you can hand out to others. I’d love them all to disappear this week! Next week we have another batch with more detail to send out. While you’re at the resource table, grab a prayer calendar as well to assist you this month as we pave the way in prayer as well.
It is truly an exciting season at Saint Barnabas! However, to reach our potential requires your help, intentionality, and most of all your prayers. I, personally, get excited to share what God is doing in our midst with others, and I pray you are as well. As we step out in faith, God goes before us as it delights His heart that we partner with Him in what is so dear to Him, namely in reaching out to those who do not know Him or who have fallen out of fellowship with Him. See you Sunday!
