Another helpful tool to assist in quieting the mind and help us focus in prayer is to pray a verse repeatedly such as “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). An ancient prayer, known as the Jesus Prayer, is another simple and repetitious prayer that can assist you as well. It simply states, ‘Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
One of the greatest challenges we face in our prayer life is the notion of stillness and silence. Yet learning to embrace it, allows God to pull forward portions of scripture for guidance, allows us to enter into His presence, and time for us to hear Him. We often think of prayer as time when we talk, but forget that prayer is a conversation wherein God speaks as well.
Learning to cultivate times to be still and listen to Him is another piece of our prayer life. Find ways to incorporate it into your prayer patterns and explore some of the resources below as further tools to assist you.
