On Sunday you will walk into the newest parish in the diocese as you come to worship at Saint Barnabas. While you will walk into the same facility you do each week, the signs, and the same people and clergy will be present as in weeks prior, something will have changed. We have grown up. We have matured. We are moving forward with the Lord.
The signs of such markers are abundantly evident in the stewardship drive we just concluded. We capped it with the largest giving to date. It enables us to do more in mission and ministry than ever before! The commitment is high as so many of you, even newer faces, have plugged into ministry in this place over the past year. Yes, something has changed. We are sinking deep roots for the Kingdom that will bear rich fruit for generations to come. And we look forward to what God has for us next.
In fact, as your Vestry (the new name for the Bishop’s Committee) meets for the first time next Monday (11/18) night, we will conclude our time in prayer for that purpose. We have left the final half hour of our meeting, from 7:30 - 8:00 pm, open to seek the Lord about what is next. While there are many ideas, many needs, and many hopes, only the Lord knows what is truly best in this next season. Each of you are all invited to join us for that time of prayer in the Youth Room.
Growing up in the Lord means we seek Him first, wait upon His leading, and move as He directs obediently. It means we press into Him before leaning into the wisdom of others, or putting our hand to the matters that we even see as needful. It means being in step with Him, stride for stride, where He leads. We give great thanks for where He has brought us, and anticipate where He will direct us in the weeks, months, and years to come!
