As I’ve reflected upon this day, I give thanks we still have such an opportunity. It also caused me to think as well. How can we build bridges whereby we as the Church build bridges in order speak into the world? I don’t have an easy answer, but days like this Sunday remind me that in this day and age we cannot take such opportunities lightly. In fact, we should plan and pray for more of them as we find ways to invite others into our midst in creative ways.
I am of one such parishioner who did just that last spring. One of our coaches invited me to bless his track team before their first track meet. It was a wonderful chance to interact with the youth and for the Church to be present in the world. Perhaps you have a group in which you are involved that we can partner with and speak into, or that you may do so yourself.
Consider this week the areas where you are involved and perhaps have influence within. Pray about ways that we can bring Christ into those situations. Perhaps it is through your presence and prayers among them. Perhaps it is reaching out to the clergy at the church to open in prayer, address and issue, or speak to a topic. May we find creative ways to continue to reach the world for Christ, be present among it and build in ways to invite Christ into their midst!
