First, in case you haven’t heard, we are starting a second service! Beginning January 12 we will offer a trial 8:00 am service for the first six weeks of the year. This one hour, contemplative, acoustic, worship service will use the familiar worship format of our 10 am service. We recognize the need for an earlier worship offering for families and those who cannot come to the 10 am service and look forward to seeing you there! If it proves to meet a need it will become a permanent offering. We will continue with our 9 am education hour and 10 am service weekly.
Secondly, our next adult study on evangelism will also start on January 12. We will be using an exciting book called The Art of Neighboring that you can purchase here. It will help equip you in meaningfully engaging those around you. The adult study is also a great way to connect with church friends who may attend a different service than you weekly at the start of a new year.
Also, we will have an evangelism workshop day on January 18 from 9.00 - 12.30 pm. You can find out more about Search Ministries by clicking here. Believe it or not, you will be led by an engaging young man who is younger than me! Teens and adults alike are invited for this practical day!
Thirdly, we will have our next Discovery Day on January 11. It will meet the requirement for adults to become members upon Bishop Reed’s first annual visitation to us in March, but will also be a great day to engage in questions about the Faith and Anglicanism.
Discovery Day is a fun and full day that includes times for fellowship, an opportunity to explore the Anglican tradition and what we believe, learning about and finding ways that Saint Barnabas can assist you and your family in your walk with the Lord, discovering why we do what we do in worship on Sundays, and how to join the church, if you are interested in doing so. The morning begins at 9 am with a continental breakfast, lunch is also provided and we end promptly at 3 pm.
I don’t want you to miss out on a thing, so save the dates as we start a new year and please contact the church office to RSVP to any of the events!
