Another central focus of our spiritual growth in the season of Lent is our prayer life. Conversations with God can take many forms, as will be featured here in the weeks ahead. However, they all begin with a pattern or daily rhythm. The Church has historically called this a Rule of Life.
A Rule of Life is akin to the dowel or stick one tethers to a plant to support upright growth despite weather conditions. In the same way, a Rule of Life supports our spiritual lives as it provides a daily pattern to assist in our grow in the Lord and to strengthen us in the trials and chances of life. One great resource from our tradition is called the Daily Office. If you click here (or you may copy and paste the following web address - http://anglicanpastor.com/rookieanglican/dailyofficebooklet ) you will be led to both an explanation of this pattern and a way to receive it in your inbox for daily use. It is perhaps one of the most user friendly versions I have seen and is a great tool in helping establish a daily routine of spending time with the Lord.
If you already have such a rhythm one additional resource to add during Lent is a devotional site set up by the Anglican Church in North America found here (or you may copy and paste the following web address - https://giftoflent.org ). An audio version of the Daily Office may be found there as well as weekly devotional reflections, artwork, and ways to put your almsgiving into action for those in need around the globe.
Lean into Lent as a season to assist you in cultivating a deeper prayer life and keep an eye out on this space for more resources in the weeks to come.
