I am more excited about this year than any other thus far at Saint Barnabas! God is truly doing amazing things at this church. At the end of the summer, He opened the way through a generous donation to allow us to add Julie Williams as a part time Children’s Minister to our staff for the next two years to further invest in children and their families. We pray He will grow that seed money into a sustainable position in the years to come.
He has provided the vision of how we can engage children and families as we strive to build a Scriptural foundation for them while walking footsteps of Jesus through the Church Year. Our First Sundays will continue to grow beyond a children’s message and incorporating them more fully in worship to hosting family events to follow. Each month we will have a potluck luncheon and activity for the whole family as we cultivate a place to grow, spend time together, and connect with others. Additionally, we are transforming one classroom into a Quiet Room for our youngest worshippers and their families while allowing our toddlers more room to play in the nursery.
God has also brought two great new Youth Group leaders to us who you will meet on Sunday! They have a vision and passion to work with our growing teen base in weekly Youth Group gatherings from 11:45-1:45 pm on Sundays. By God’s grace, Saint Barnabas will continue to be a safe place for them to grow in a knowledge of God’s Word, engage real issues, and find community.
However, all the exciting news is not limited to our children and youth. We have amazing Growth Group leaders lined up to facilitate our groups this year for adults. Sign ups are in the back of the church or a click away through an email to the church office (email@example.com). There are many times offered so that everyone can participate: whether you have a Sunday evenings free from 4:00- 5:30 pm, Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. or want to come on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm. The church wide fall study will dovetail with our preaching series to begin the Sunday after Labor Day (September 11).
But wait! There’s more! And the great news is that you don’t have to call in the next 10 minutes to secure it! We are also introducing new opportunities for worship this year. On September 14 we will begin a midweek service on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm in place of our Friday morning service. In January we will also be adding a second service on Sunday mornings at 8 am. Both of these services will provide you an opportunity to further connect in worship and community in the course of a week and to bring others with you.
As you can see, this is perhaps the most full and exciting year we have had as a church. Yet, it will not be nearly as exciting if you and your family are not a part of it! Choose to join in with what God is doing by making growth in the character of Jesus a priority in your life. I cannot wait to see what God will continue to do as we seek to follow Him while bringing those disconnected from Him and His Church into His gracious presence!
