In our second reading on Sunday, from Paul’s letter to the Romans, we are reminded to present ourselves as a living sacrifice to God. We are called to live with the end in sight as we live for Him. Often we lay our lives down before the Lord, only to snatch them back time and again! In a few verses further down in this chapter, Paul suggested using our gifts in light of eternity and the coming Kingdom of God. I find that service unto God for the sake of the Kingdom assists in tethering one’s heart and life to God.
As we begin another fall, I encourage you to prayerfully consider committing to a ministry this year. When we utilize our gifts, or in humility find ways to offer ourselves to God, we stay focused and anchored as well as working to build the Kingdom. Throughout the month of September there will be a table at the back of church with information and a page to sign up for each ministry. Take one home to pray over, and as part of your offering of yourself, consider putting it in the offering plate one week.
Seek ways you can plug in this year as you offer yourself as a living sacrifice in light of the call to follow Jesus and make Him known.
