Such a foundation is laid when we turn to Jesus and are baptized into the Faith. Yet, a foundation that is poured, but never built upon never fulfills its intended purpose. This is also true of our faith. We can miss our intended purpose if we have a firm foundation, but never allow the walls to be built, beams laid, roof secured, and structure to be dwelt and lived in. God wants to inhabit our lives to make it his home. In so doing he helps us reach our God-given purpose in life. He created each of us to take part in his grand plan of salvation history. We are vital members of the Church, who play a specific role set apart from the foundation of the world.
Following the hymn, we will have an opportunity to further build on that foundation. Sunday School will start for our children and teens, as they learn ‘his excellent word’ this year. Youth Group for our teens will also meet later in the day at 4:30 pm on Sunday afternoons. Make it a priority to have your children attend, so that they can grow and also have godly fellowship with others their age. This year we have the potential to double our weekly Sunday School if we all participate. What an exciting thought, as we seek to disciple our youngest members!
Building on that firm foundation, however, is not just for our children. It is for all of us. Next week our Growth Groups begin, as will our preaching series. Check the specific meeting times in enclosed flyer, and email the church office with the one that works for you. Invest in your growth, that of your family, and find ways at the same time to connect and have fellowship.
We have an amazing year ahead! A year that we have prayed about, received from the Lord, and are now at the edge of implementing. All that is needed is you! Join in at the beginning of this exciting fall in the investment in your own walk with the Lord, and also hear about ways to be God’s hands and feet as we reach the lost, disconnected, and marginalized with the love of Christ. See you Sunday!!
