Starting on Sunday, September 11th, we will begin a preaching series that will carry us through October, which unpacks the very character of Jesus and practical ways we can grow to be more like Him (by cooperating with the Holy Spirit in our lives). In the week to follow there will be an opportunity for you to dive further into fellowship and conversation in a Growth Group. We have three groups meeting through the fall at different times and days. You will find sign-ups in the back of the church and a link on the website.
You will not want to miss out!! Growth Groups build bonds of fellowship, encouragement, and facilitate life changing growth. If you have yet to experience one, now is your chance. Each group meets for about a hour and a half each week for 11 weeks. It will be one of the top investments you can make in your life and that of your family.
So many stories have arisen out of these groups, as individuals find community, support, and a safe place to express and grow in the Faith. The preaching series and subsequent book study will provide thoughtful discussion, practical tools for your week, and devotional activities that can fit into your schedule to assist you in the upward call of Christ Jesus in giving Him your best. I cannot commend it to you enough and don’t want you to miss out on what truly is the pulse of Saint Barnabas.
Groups will begin on the week of September 11 and end the week of Thanksgiving (November 20) before we take a six week break to get through the end of the year and pick up again in mid January. Find the time that works for you and prayerfully consider inviting someone to come with you who does not have a church home. These groups are a great engine to bring others into our midst who may not know much about Anglicanism, but who, like all of us, seek belonging, community, and fellowship. A simple invitation and investment to pick them up, grab quick bite before or after you go to your Growth Group, or follow up for coffee midweek, could be the invitation that brings them into the the household of Faith.
I cannot wait to embark upon this journey with you as we see what the Holy Spirit does in us as we commit to growing in the character of Jesus more fully this year! It is my hope and prayer that we have 100% participation as there is not greater place to ‘plug in’ at Saint Barnabas than into the intentional formation and discipleship that comes in pursing a life in Jesus.
