Research shows that people are more open to an invitation to a worship service this time of year than at any other time. Maybe it is the nostalgia of childhood memories of attending with family or friends, or the desire for community that opens their heart to being with others in the community of the Church, or for others perhaps it is the reason for the season itself, in the message of the Gospel. Whatever the reason, hearts are open.
I’d encourage you to ask two people to join you for worship in the coming days. You may get a yes, you may get excuses, or you may get a warm smile and change of topic. Whatever response you get, you will plant a seed. A seed that God will tend to, or you may water a seed to full bud that just needed a drink to open up. Don't worry about the response you get, but your faithfulness in asking.
In the church are postcards you could hand out and to pray over in the the next day or so before you extend it to someone. You may consider offering to pick them up, or meeting them in the parking lot so you can sit with them during the service. Your decision to do so certainly takes a boldness on your part, but it could change a heart. It will show someone how much you care for them, and your actions will point to the Faith we profess weekly. You are in my prayers this week, and I pray that God will work through all of us to turn hearts to His in the days ahead!
