During his message on Sunday morning, Bishop Iker noted that we are in a season wherein we celebrate the epiphanies, or revelations, of Jesus to the world. He reminded us that we have epiphanies that lead to conversions that empower us to become epiphanies to the world around us by God’s grace at work in us. His encouragement to us was that our conversion and continual conversions of heart lead us to evangelism. Essentially that growth in us begets growth through us.
In God’s perfect timing, the Bishop’s exhortation to us came a week before we embark upon a focus on evangelism. Certainly an affirmation of the Lord’s timing! Starting this week, as we resume our Growth Groups we will tackle the topic and explore it in February in a new preaching series. We will also have an evangelism workshop weekend on February 11 and 12. That Saturday from 9-3pm we will have a diocesan program called TELET come to us as we explore the practical ways we can share our Fatih with others. The next day, on Sunday night at 5:30 pm, we will have Archbishop Kwashi, who is leading the diocesan men’s conference, come to us as we have a potluck and engage him further on this topic.
It is an exciting season to be further equipped in this area of our walk with the Lord! Imagine how it delights the Lord to have a heart after His in this regard, especially as we celebrate the growth He has brought to us this past year. Imagine the growth both in us and in our midst as we further join the Lord in this important work. In a few weeks, at our Annual Meeting, we will look further at some efforts on the horizon toward this end and the amazing things the Lord purposes for us in 2017.
