Ed Ackermann, CAGO, Organist / Choirmaster

Ed graduated 1976 summa cum laude from Trinity University in San Antonio with a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts (painting and drawing). He has enjoyed a 25 year career in computer programming and systems design followed by a 20 year career running his own artist business painting murals and other works in the homes of the rich and famous.  He studied organ at San Antonio Junior College and subsequently with various private teachers. He holds the Service Playing (SPC) and Colleague (CAGO) certifications awarded by the American Guild of Organists (AGO) after passing comprehensive juried performance examinations. He has served as a church organist for various denominations since 1970.  He has served on the board of directors for the Fort Worth Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and continues to serve the AGO in various capacities, especially mentoring young organists to jump start their careers as church organists. The organ and its music became a passion upon discovering his maternal grandmother’s parlor “pump” organ and playing it during his childhood. He has an electronic digital organ in his home with four manual keyboards and full pedal board with organ stops digitally recorded from the grand pipe organ at Hereford Cathedral in England.
