Men's Ministry

Anglican Men of Christ

The Saint Barnabas men's group is called the Anglican Men of Christ - or AMOC. They meet at the church biweekly on Saturdays from 7-9 am for breakfast, Bible study, and fellowship.

Anglican Men of Christ is a strong ministry that has supported the church, the Diocese, and the community for nearly 20 years.

In addition to meeting every other Saturday morning, they have done outreach service projects for local non-profits like Stepping Stones and the Community Storehouse. AMOC also provides the “muscle” for a multitude of St. Barnabas outreach projects by manning the grill for events like the annual Badge Blessing and Neighborhood Night Out at a nearby apartment complex.

The greatest ministry and focus of AMOC has been the administration and awarding of college and trade school scholarships through the John Kennedy Memorial Scholarship. It was started in 2015 to honor and remember John Kennedy, who was a founding member of St. Barnabas and the men’s group. He was a Navy veteran and a teacher in the Birdville ISD for many years. These scholarships have been awarded to the high school graduates of St. Barnabas, and in recent years, graduates outside of our church who attend Keller ISD. Twice a year, at Christmas and Easter, they smoke hams for the congregation, and do a turkey-fry at Thanksgiving as well. Money raised by these events helps AMOC fund things like church donations, Kennedy scholarships, sponsoring a hole at the Bishop Iker Golf Tournament benefiting Camp Crucis, and other giving opportunities.
